The Mac 250+ is a rather old unit now, it was discontinued some years ago and replaced with the mac 250 krypton and entour (the latter having a few extra features). Are these second hand mac 250s you're looking at? I'd be a bit wary of them as even if they've been well looked after they're going to be at least 5 years old by now.
I just took my entire rig down for a deep clean (6 250 washes, 6 250 Krypton and 4 250 Entour) all went smoothly (which is rare) and apart from the fact that the smoke fluid I use is clearly causing massive build ups of dust, the rig located and ran as fine.... except one. One of the entours had been giving an intermittent 'HOT' error for a couple of weeks. While it was down I changed the lamp as it was about time and hoped this would solve the issue. Instead whereas before it was an intermittent error, now it is constant. The strange thing is that the lamp itself has struck so it's not the ignitor and I don't think it's the balast. I haven't changed the voltage or the frequency and all of the fans are connected and seem to be working. Does anyone have any suggestions it's really annoying that my rig is all back looking clean and running smooth except for this one fixture.
Cheers

Good evening folks. I've been given the use of two Martin Mac 250 Entours for a couple of weeks in return for cleaning and servicing them. They've been sitting in a corner of a night club for two years with exploded bulbs inside of them, and probably also need lubricated (one of the shutters used to stick when I worked with them four years ago). My questions:
Martin Mac 250 Krypton Spot User Manual Pdf
- Any tips for this task? I've found the service manual for them, but any wisdom borne of experience would be appreciated. One thing I'm concerned about: the owner's manual calls for a teflon-based lube, while the service manual calls for a silicone lube. What's up with that?
- I don't have anything to control them with. Any recommendations for software/controllers that will work with an iPad? I'm looking at Luminair, but I can't get a good sense of whether it will work with the Mac 250s, or what kind of DMX interface I need to be able to go from wifi to DMX. (All the Art-Net interfaces I've looked at are expensive as hell, and Ethernet only).

Thanks in advance!
